Dear brides and grooms-to-be, we understand those wedding week nerves and we are here for you. We know better than anyone the never ending to-do list that seems to somehow gain two more tasks every time one gets checked off. While your week-of to-do list no doubt has some very important items, we would be willing to wager that your list doesn’t include our 5 absolutely imperative to-dos for your wedding week. Plus we can guarantee that when you’re less than a week away from wedding day, our to-do list is going to be the one you really need! So please, take our advice and follow our wedding week checklist of the 5 things every bride & groom must do the week of their wedding!

5. GET HYPED

Cause you’re getting MARRIED! You have found that special someone that makes you feel confident even about doing something crazy…like getting MARRIED! On top of that, you love this person so much that you want to get your friends and family in one room just to declare that love in front of them. In our opinion, that’s pretty freaking cool. Which is why if you’re getting married we welcome you to come aboard the hype train! This means bug your friends with all your favorite wedding gifs and memes. You’re only a fiance(e) for a few more days so work that word into every conversation you can. Don’t forget your wedding and the days leading up to it are supposed to be a CELEBRATION of love so treat them as such!

4. REACH OUT TO YOUR NEAREST & DEAREST

When you’re stressing and over analyzing, it’s human nature to retreat. Instead of internalizing your anxieties, lean on your comrades to rally around you. Good vibes are much needed in a time like this! Plus, one of the joys of having a wedding is including your loved ones in the celebration and you don’t have to wait until the actual wedding day to do that. Just send a quick text or find time for a coffee date - we promise it will be worth your while during your wedding week! And if there are certain wedding guests who are already wearing you a bit thin, that’s even more reason to lean on those in your life who can provide a bit of love and levity!

3. SELF-CARE

This can mean hitting the hay early and getting your beauty sleep. It can mean dedicating an hour to do nothing but read a good book, or listen to some music, or do a little doodling. Just do something - anything - that allows you to prioritize yourself for a moment. Too many brides and grooms think self-care can take a back seat until after the wedding, but there is a lot wrong with that line of thinking. Most importantly, you really aren’t yourself if you aren’t taking time for yourself. You’re about to make the biggest commitment possible and it’s best to go into it with a clear head and mind. Not to mention, your wedding day is going to have some elements of stress no matter what you do. Don’t let yourself get to a boiling point where you’ll eventually explode. Instead, just dedicate some time during your wedding week to get your head straight so you can take on anything that comes your way! And self-care doesn’t have to necessarily happen alone. Grab your friends and check off our #3 & #4 must-dos at the same time!

2. CUT DOWN YOUR TO-DO LIST

Seriously. Right now. Pick at least one thing and scratch it off your list. It doesn’t have to be anything major but it does have to be something that will help you breath a little easier if it’s gone. If you’ve already got your list down to the bare essentials, then instead take at least one task and assign it to a friend or family member to take care (see #4 above!!!). Also, do us a favor and go through your wedding plans in your head and ask yourself: “if this went majorly wrong how upset would I be?“. I think you’d be surprised to realize most of what’s weighing your list down really isn’t that important. And for the things that are super important, ask for help ensuring they go smoothly. For everything else: expect the worst, hope for the best, and go with the flow. As long as you get married then your wedding was a success!

1. SAY “I LOVE YOU” TO YOUR FIANCÉ(E)

This is hands down, without a doubt, the number one thing we require you to add to your personal to-do list right this second. In that last week of wedding chaos it is too easy to lose sight of the most important thing - your fiancé(e) and the love you share together. Be sure to make time every single day leading up to the big one to shower each other in love and remind each other how grateful you are to be starting your new family. I promise, once you are married you will wish you had done this a little bit more during your pre-wedding days!
